Pepi & Tamariki

We have a range of child services available to help whānau raise happy, healthy, confident pēpi and tamariki.

Tamariki Ora provides well child services for whānau with pēpi and includes support, advice and information around health-related issues like breastfeeding, hearing, vision and baby’s development. When required, we help whānau to connect to other appropriate support.

This free service is available to whānau with pēpi or tamariki aged 0-5 years, who live in the Waitākere and Whau local board areas.

Family/Whānau Support encourages thriving pēpi and tamariki by providing whānau with the knowledge and skills to build a positive future.

This free service includes advocacy and information on breastfeeding, immunisation, pregnancy care, parenting skills and nutrition. It can provide travel assistance to GP and maternity appointments.

This service is available to whānau with pēpi or tamariki aged 0-5 years, who live in the Waitākere area.

Incredible Years is a free 15-week parenting programme for parents and caregivers of tamariki aged 3-8 years.

Using whakawhanaungatanga, Incredible Years helps build strong relationships between parents and tamariki. The programme encourages and enables parents to strategise and manage your child’s behaviours. It also helps you upgrade your parenting skills and enhance your knowledge of the important role parents play.

This service is available to whānau with tamariki aged 3-8 years, who live in the Waitākere area. To graduate, parents must complete at least 10 sessions.

Te Tipu Pā Harakeke is a free programme that uses te reo Māori and tikanga to educate, support and nurture pēpi and tamariki at home.

As part of the programme, kaimahi visit your whānau at home and provide fun and educational activities to do together, as well as books in te reo Māori. There are also te ao Māori playgroups where you can interact with other whānau and go on some group haerenga (excursions).

This service if available to whānau with pēpi or tamariki aged 0-3 years, who live in the Waitākere area.

Engaging Priority Families is a free programme supporting whānau who want to enrol their tamariki into a quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) centre and take advantage of the free 20 ECE hours.

This service is available to whānau with tamariki aged 3-4 years, who have not attended an ECE centre in the last 3 months, who live in the Whau area from West Harbour to Avondale.

Triple P is a free positive parenting programme for parents and caregivers. It can be delivered as four 1-to-1 sessions or as a group discussion.

This service is available to whānau with tamariki aged up to 12 years, who live in West Auckland, including Hobsonville, or the area from Northcote to Mangawhai Heads.

Child & Youth services help reduce inequalities and improve health outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi. Our trained kaimahi provide free health education, clinical assessment, health care and quality support and assistance through primary health.

This service is for Māori tamariki and rangatahi aged 0 – 17 years who are enrolled in the Te Whānau O Waipareira Health Clinic, local kura kaupapa or kura tuarua networks, alternative education units, intermediate and secondary school bilingual units, and through the home school network.

For the past 30 years, Waipareira have provided free services and support for whānau of all ages in West Auckland – health, legal, housing and education.
