Whānau

Kaiārahi / Navigator Service

Our Kaiārahi are located in Whānau Centre and are available to whānau for walk-ins, queries and where possible help to address an immediate need. Kaiārahi work alongside whānau to understand current needs, look at whānau strengths, develop a plan and navigate whānau into the appropriate services that best fits the whānau and meet goals within the plan. Our Kaiārahi can work for up to 12 months with a whānau.
Available to: All individuals and whānau living within Waitakere.

Building Financial Capability / Budgeting Services

This programme supports whānau wanting to better manage their finances and debt. Whānau will be mentored, develop budgets and gain more knowledge around financial literacy and management.
Available to: All individuals and whānau living within Waitakere.

Support with Family Violence

This service supports individuals and whānau exposed to family violence. An initial family violence screen is completed and appropriate support, and linkages to other support services are coordinated.
Available to: Individuals and whānau living in Waitakere exposed to, or who feel they are at risk of being exposed to family violence.

Niwareka

This is a confidential support group for wāhine (women) wanting to take control of their lives. We provide support and advocacy to wāhine facing family violence or who have experienced family violence in their lives.
Available to: Wāhine (women) living in Waitakere facing or exposed to family violence.

Whānau Development

Whānau Development provides social work support to whānau. An assessment is completed to identify whānau priorities, plan and goals developed and whānau supported to achieve these goals. Advocacy and linking to other appropriate services is also provided.
Available to: Individuals and whānau living in Waitakere.

Strengthening Families

This programme supports whānau understand the role of different agencies that may be involved with their whānau. A Facilitator will co-ordinate involved services, engage other appropriate support services and alongside whānau will develop an appropriate action plan to support Whānau through the strengthening families process. This is a voluntary process.
Available to: Whānau where more than one community support organisation or government service is or could be required.

Rongoa Māori

A free mirimiri is available to whānau who feel a mirimiri will support them to improve their health and well-being. This is by appointment only.
Available to: Anyone living within Waitakere.
