Te Whānau o Waipareira
Te Whānau o Waipareira has a rich history documented over five generations of Urban Māori Whānau and counting. Acknowledging our history, community and whānau who have been critical in the establishment and growth of Whānau Waipareira keeps us on track as we progress into the future.
Wai-Research, established in 2014, is the next step on our Future Makers pathway for long-term impact and sustainable change producing qualitative and quantitative evidence and experience based publications from the heart of the community we serve.
With the launch of our research journal Te Kura Nui o Waipareira, we are now producing a regular publication combining academic writing, kaimahi/staff reflections and learnings and whānau voices into one journal reflecting our community.
Stay tuned as we continue to update progress along the way.

2019-2020 Annual Report
“As Māori our response meant everyone rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in, as we do on our Marae”. TWOW Chairman Raymond Hall.
Thank you to all of our kaimahi and volunteers who adapted easily to frontline and distribution work ensuring whānau were regularly contacted, comforted and armed with hygiene and kai packs. Throughout this period our regular programmes continued around the different COVID levels, plus new strategies for our people were implemented to reflect these ever-changing times. Our partners were instrumental in our collective response that helped us not only identify but assist our most isolated and vulnerable – a response that continues to this day.
