Pēpi & Tamariki

Tamariki Ora Service

Tamariki Ora provides well child services for whānau with pēpi from 4 weeks old up to 5 years. Support, advice and information around health-related issues e.g. breastfeeding, development of baby, hearing and vision is provided. Supporting whānau to connect to other appropriate support may also be offered where required.
Available to: Pēpi/tamariki aged between 0-5 years and their whānau living in the Waitakere / Whau local board area.

Te Kete Aronui

Te Kete Aronui aims to improve education outcomes of tamarki studying in year 1-8 through free numeracy and literacy activities. The after school programme works to improve both skills and engagement in learning.
Available to: Whānau in the Waitakere and South Auckland area with one or more tamariki in year 1-8

Family / Whānau Support (Māma and Pēpi)

Family / Whānau Support enables whānau with knowledge that encourages pēpi and tamariki to thrive and support a positive future. The free services include advocacy and information on breastfeeding, immunisation, pregnancy care, parenting skills, nutrition, travel assistance to GP and maternity appointments.
Available to: Pēpi/tamariki aged between 0-5 years and their whānau living in the Waitakere area.

Incredible Years (IY) Ngā Tau Miharo

IY is a 15 week parenting programme for parents / caregivers with children aged between 3-8 years. IY encourages and enables parents to strategise and manage their child’s behaviours and to enhance and upskill their knowledge of parenting and the role of being a parent. Using whakawhanaungatanga, Incredible Years helps build strong relationships between parents and Tamariki.
Parents must also complete 10/14 sessions to graduate from this programme.
Available to: Whānau living in Waitakere with tamariki aged between 3 – 8 years.

Te Tipu Pā Harakeke

Te Tipu Pā Harakeke is a free programme that provides education and support in the home to nurture pēpi/tamariki and their learnings using te reo Māori and tikanga. The programme will consist of home visits, where kaimahi will provide fun and educational activities to do together; te reo Māori books will be distributed to the whānau as a resource; te ao Māori playgroups are held where they can interact with other whānau and some haerenga/excursions together as a group.

Available to: Māori /Whānau living in Waitakere with pēpi/tamariki aged between 0 – 3 years.

Engaging Priority Families

This free programme supports whānau with tamariki 3- 4 years old who want to enrol into a quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) centre and take advantage of the free 20 ECE hours.
Available to: Whānau living in Whau area including West Harbour to Avondale with tamariki 3- 4 years who have not attended an ECE centre in the last three months.

Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme)

Triple P is a free positive parenting program for parents and caregivers of children up to the age of 12 years. It is delivered as either a series of four 1-to-1 sessions or in a group discussion.
Available to: Whānau living in West Auckland, including Hobsonville, and Northcote to Mangawhai Heads.

Family/ Whānau Care (Child & Youth)

Our trained kaimahi provide health services to 0-17 year olds within a health clinic, school and kura kaupapa
Available to: Tamariki in these schools, or attending the health clinic.
