A call for a Māori inquiry into child protection agency Oranga Tamariki has been heeded by the North Island’s Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency.
A national hui on Saturday, 13th July in Māngere wil launch the inquiry into the way this multi-billion government agency operates against its statutory obligations to Māori. Oranga Tamariki has caused alarm with many recently due to its practices around removing pēpi and tamariki from their whānau.
Due to huge demand, registrations for the hui are now closed. However those wanting to follow the hui can access it via livestreaming from 9:30am-4pm on the day.
