Wai Health

Wai Health has a multidisciplinary team of 106 full-time staff, including community health workers, well child nurses, public health specialists, dietician, doctors, practice nurses, diabetes nurse specialists, podiatrist, mental health workers, drug and alcohol counsellors, psychologist, ACC support workers.

The Trust also contracts dental, optometry and physiotherapy services. We hope this year to provide pharmacy services and midwifery clinics.

Wai Health is funded by Waitemata District Health Board and the Ministry of Health, with the exception of our ACC contract. This means a close working relationship with Waitemata District Health Board and the Ministry of Health is essential to building our capacity and capability to deliver quality services to our whanau.

Much of the Trust's work is focussed in the areas that Maori are disproportionately represented:

• Cancer care navigation and support
• Cardio – vascular screening and prevention
• Nutrition and physical activity
• Smoking cessation
• Drug and alcohol counselling
• Mental health services
• Early intervention in child health services
• Healthy housing insulation referral services

In 2007-8, the Trust provided 68,990 face to face contacts to individuals or whanau across the range of health services.
