AGM confirms Board numbers to decrease11 June 2007Board membership numbers are set to decrease to nine from the next elections. The AGM in March included a resolution that the number of Board members be reduced from 15 to nine, and that Board members be elected on a three yearly rotational basis. The Trust’s Annual General Meeting held on 28 March saw about 200 people attend. Feedback from community consultation in the weeks leading up to the AGM revealed overwhelming support for the Trust and its future direction. Board member Ngaire Te Hira says the Trust has stepped up to its challenges over the past 12 months. She points to milestones such as becoming debt free, the initiation of new programmes like the Social Workers in Schools (SWIS), and the appointment of Chief Executive Officer John Tamihere back into the driver’s seat. The AGM confirmed that the boundary of the Trust will remain the same. It is from the Pt Chevalier motorway interchange, along Great North road into the southern boundary at Blockhouse Bay Road. The northern boundary is to the Rodney District Council boundary on the southern side of Kumeu. Also, the eligibility to vote Board members onto the Trust will be given to anyone over 18 years old. A beneficiary database will also be established. A separate ‘class’ of beneficiaries will include Kaumatua and will be known as Te Roopu Kaumatua O Waipareira. Another ‘class’ of beneficiaries will include employees, spouses and partners that may not reside within the boundary of Waipareira. The Trust is now focusing on its strategic plan in preparation for Board elections in the next AGM in November 2007. |
